Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see--how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him. Worship God if you want the best; worship opens doors to all his goodness.
Psalm 34:8-9 (The Message)
I love these verses right now. God is good. I've tasted that. I've seen that. I want to worship Him with my whole heart. I want to surrender my all--my wants, my needs, my fears, my joy, my pain--to Him.
A speaker at a church camp used cheesecake to help illustrate a point to teenagers about tasting and seeing the goodness of God. It stuck with me because I love cheesecake and The Cheesecake Factory (my all time favorite restaurant). He had never had cheesecake before. He didn't know he was missing out on anything. He met a friend who introduced him to The Cheesecake Factory. As he was eating his piece of cheesecake, he couldn't believe all of the goodness he had been missing out on all of his life. In that moment, he knew this was not the end of his affinity for cheesecake. He instantly wanted more. He wanted to bring other people to The Cheesecake Factory and share the goodness of cheesecake with them. He began to crave the goodness of cheesecake.
This may seem like a silly story to illustrate this point.
That's how our relationship with Jesus should be. As Christians, we've tasted and seen how good God is! We should crave more--want more--always! We should want to bring other people to Jesus and let them taste and see for themselves.
My new friend, Season, sang this song at Graffiti 2 church a few weeks ago--it's really just stuck with me! It's by Shane and Shane and it's called "When I Think About the Lord."
when i think about the Lord
how He saved me, how He raised mehow He filled me with the Holy Ghost
how He healed me to the uttermost
when i think about the Lord
how he picked me up
turned me around
how He set my feet
on solid ground
it makes me want to shout
hallelujah! thank you, Jesus!
Lord, you're worthy
of all the glory, and all the honor
and all the praise!
Hallelujah! thank you, Jesus!
Lord, you're worthy
of all the glory, and all the honor
and all the praise!
He is worthy! I've tasted and seen that! My prayer is that my life reflects that I've tasted and seen the one, true living God. In this world of darkness that we live in, we have the answer people are looking for--Jesus Christ!
Does your life reflect that you've tasted and seen the one, true living God?
Prayer Request Update: I have found a place to live!!!! YAY!!! Thank you all so much for praying with me and for me in this! I get to move in October 1. It's for 6 months, so I will live there through March.

Love this post! It's not a silly illustration when people can grab onto it and make it their own. You did a really good job.
