Get Connected

I have now been in New York City for 2 1/2 weeks...WOW! As I was walking the streets of NYC last night coming home from an event, I think it really hit me that I am actually living here! I am so excited to actually begin work and see all the amazing things that God is going to do in the South Bronx. For those of you who don't know, I moved to NYC a little early to begin looking for a place to live. I actually begin work Sept. 1.

I've gotten to do quite a few touristy things--thanks to an amazing friend from high school that actually lives here in the city who is a member of the museums which allows me to get in at a hugely discounted fee! We also went to watch the New York Jets (translated: watch Tim Tebow...haha) practice because that was a free event too!

This past Sunday, we had a guest speaker at Graffiti 2. His name was John Ramirez and he works for the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association (MNYBA). He brought along his wife and three new MNYBA staff members. This was exciting because those 3 new staff members are new to the city too! They invited me to dinner that night. God knows just what we need at the right time! One of my prayers has been that I find friends! He has already begun placing people in my life to build community. So thankful for that.

Last night, I went to something called Get Connected at the MNYBA. It is an event they have a few times a year to let all of the local church staff come and "get connected." I got to meet so  many people and hear about what God is doing all of this amazing city! The world is literally here in NYC. There were so many nationalities represented in this one room. We met in the MNYBA chapel which they dedicated last night. This is the verse for that chapel: "My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. Mark 11:17." I loved this because so many nations were represented last night and they each had an opportunity to pray in their native tongue. God is at work in NYC and its surrounding areas. I am so blessed to be able to be a part of what God is doing! Thank you to each and every one of you who are making this possible through your prayers and financial support.

PRAYER REQUEST--I still have not found a place to live. I've gotten a few leads but have some hesitations on those places right now. I want to be in the place God wants me. Will you please be praying that God would provide the perfect place for me?
