Lower Manhattan got hit much harder than where I live. Below 39th Street lost power and had flooding. I live on 83rd Street, so I'm pretty far away from that. For those of you who saw reports on the crane that collapsed--that is on the opposite side of Manhattan from me (on the West side...I live on the East side). There are reports of flooding in the subway systems. They haven't reported how long that will be shut down. NYC schools are closed again today. That means that Graffiti 2 will not have after school programs. I will be hanging out at my apartment again today.
I did go out yesterday around 3:30 PM to get a view of the East River. It's about 3 "long" blocks (vs. "short" blocks..there is a difference--trust me) from my apartment. Here are a few pictures and a video from yesterday as the storm was approaching NYC. These pictures are all taken along the East River between 78th and 86th streets.
East River is behind me.
Very Windy--You probably can't really see the flags in the background, but trust me--it was REALLY windy!
Just a fun picture. :)
This is FDR highway behind me...It's not usually this empty...I'll try to take a "regular" day picture of this road to show you the difference! :)
East River behind me
Just a little video I made for you guys back home!
Please continue to pray for all of those that were affected by the storm. Pray for the people who do ministry here in NYC and surrounding areas--this is an amazing opportunity for us to show Christ's love in a very tangible way!
