I know it's been like a month since I updated my blog! So much to tell about!!!
Hurricane IKE
Not too much damage here in Huntsville...We did lose power for about a week; however, I was blessed enough to stay with a family that had a generator that powered their entire house...So, I didn't have to suffer too much! I had electricity there! It was wonderful! While there, I did manage to watch the entire Season 4 of Grey's Anatomy! :) With nowhere to go and a curfew for the town, there wasn't much else to do except watch tv!
My parents' house didn't have too much damage...just some trees down in the yard...Very thankful that it wasn't as bad as Rita there!
Scott and Amber--They live in Bridge City where the storm surge came up quite high! They live in a mobile home (which is already 3-4 feet off the ground). They had about 1-2 feet of water in their house. Very few houses/businesses in Bridge City did not get water in them. They are both okay--they had evacuated before the storm to my parents' house. They are in good spirits despite what the storm did to their home. Below are some pictures of their home and homes surrounding theirs. I cannot imagine what it would be like to have your entire house in your front yard like in the pictures below.
Jeni in front of Scott and Amber's home. Some of the insulation that they ripped out of the house.
More of the insulation, etc. that they ripped out of the house.
What remains of Scott and Amber's kitchen
A neighboring home...all of their belongings on the front yard. This is what all of the homes in the area looked like.
Another neighboring home...
Keep the areas of Southeast Texas (Bridge City in particular) in your prayers as they still have a long way to recover from Hurricane IKE.
Work
Still love my job! It's going great! I did get to miss a week of it due to the hurricane. That was nice little vacation!
Family
I got to spend this past weekend with my family at my parents' house! All five of us kids were home!!! We had so much fun! Click the link of Jo's pictures (on the right of your screen) to look at some pics from this last weekend!!! We played lots of games, basketball, and some rousing matches of croquet. :) This was the last time for about one year that I'll get to see my oldest brother, Daniel. He is leaving soon to go work for a year in Saudi Arabia. He is working for a civilian company (he is out of the Air Force now). Keep him in your prayers!!!
Zoose
My cat is doing well. He is getting so big!!! He is a very needy cat and needs lots of attention! He follows me around my apartment and must be wherever I am! Here is picture of him!
I have a busy week this week but hopefully I will have some time to update my blog!
Don't forget to check out the pictures from our Family Weekend!
